"Fastest" has four meanings on a server: one fast core, many cores, memory bandwidth and I/O. Here is the leader on each, from vendor specs and dated third-party tests, and what you can actually rent.

**Quick answer — What is the fastest dedicated server you can rent in 2026?**

The fastest dedicated server you can rent in 2026 depends on the bottleneck. For one thread, AM5 chips such as the Ryzen 9 9950X boost to 5.7 GHz. For throughput, AMD's EPYC 9005 reaches 192 cores and a memory bandwidth of 614 GB/s per socket. **Lumenfer**'s quickest plan per core is Lumen 16 (AMD Ryzen 9 9950X) at $205.27, no KYC, paid in crypto.

## What makes a dedicated server fast?

| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| One fast core | Max boost clock and core generation: decides game ticks, single-threaded apps and request latency |
| Many cores | Core count times sustained clock: decides builds, renders, virtual machines and batch jobs |
| Memory bandwidth | Channels × transfer rate × 8 bytes: decides analytics, simulations and CPU inference of language models |
| Storage and network | NVMe generation and port speed: decide databases, file serving and backups |
| Lumenfer plans | Lumen 6 $91.65, Lumen 8 $109.37, Lumen 16 $205.27, Lumen 24 $356.25, Lumen 32 $749.67 per 30 days |

## Which CPUs have the fastest single core?

AMD's 16-core AM5 chips and Intel's Core Ultra 9 285K share the top boost clock, 5.7 GHz. Server sockets trade clock for cores: the 192-core EPYC 9965 stops at 3.7 GHz.

AMD defines max boost on EPYC as the highest frequency any single core reaches under normal server conditions. Intel calls it max turbo frequency.

*From AMD and Intel product pages, read on 1 November 2026.*

| CPU | Socket | Cores | Max boost | Launched |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AMD Ryzen 9 9950X | AM5 | 16 | 5.7 GHz | 15 August 2024 |
| AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D | AM5 | 16 | 5.7 GHz | 12 March 2025 |
| AMD EPYC 4565P | AM5 | 16 | 5.7 GHz | 13 May 2025 |
| Intel Core Ultra 9 285K | LGA1851 | 24 (8 P + 16 E) | 5.7 GHz | Q4 2024 |
| AMD EPYC 9575F | SP5 | 64 | 5.0 GHz | 10 October 2024 |
| AMD EPYC 9375F | SP5 | 32 | 4.8 GHz | 10 October 2024 |
| AMD EPYC 9755 | SP5 | 128 | 4.1 GHz | 10 October 2024 |
| Intel Xeon 6980P | LGA7529 | 128 | 3.9 GHz | Q3 2024 |
| AMD EPYC 9965 | SP5 | 192 | 3.7 GHz | 10 October 2024 |

Equal clocks do not mean equal speed. At the same 5.7 GHz ceiling, Phoronix measured the 9950X 18% faster than the 285K over about 400 Linux benchmarks. That run used Ubuntu 24.10 and Linux 6.13 (published 25 February 2025). The core design matters as much as the number on the box.

## Which servers have the most compute?

Dual-socket EPYC 9005 servers lead on raw throughput. AMD lists up to 192 cores per socket on the EPYC 9965 and 128 on the EPYC 9755. Intel's largest Xeon 6, the 6980P, has 128.

Phoronix's launch review of 10 October 2024 ran more than 140 benchmarks on AMD's Volcano reference server with DDR5-6000. A dual EPYC 9755 finished 40% ahead of a dual Xeon 6980P fitted with MRDIMMs. The EPYC 9755 reached 1.55 times the 96-core EPYC 9654 of the previous generation.

A retest on 17 December 2025, nearly 200 benchmarks on Ubuntu 25.10 and Linux 6.18, put the EPYC 9755 at 1.63 times the Xeon 6980P. Intel kept the lead in AI code that uses AMX and in workloads bound by MRDIMM bandwidth.

**The single most powerful CPU you can rent in 2026 is a dual-socket EPYC 9005 class machine, not a 5.7 GHz desktop chip.**

## How much memory bandwidth can a rented server have?

Up to 614 GB/s per socket on EPYC 9005, by AMD's figures. Every AM5 chip has two DDR5 channels, so it tops out near 89.6 GB/s.

| Platform | Channels | Rated memory | Bandwidth per socket |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AM5 (Ryzen 9000, EPYC 4005) | 2 | DDR5-5600 | 89.6 GB/s (AMD, EPYC 4545P) |
| EPYC 9004 (SP5) | 12 | DDR5-4800 | 460.8 GB/s (AMD) |
| EPYC 9005 (SP5) | 12 | DDR5-6400 | 614 GB/s (AMD) |
| Xeon 6731P, 6741P (LGA4710) | 8 | DDR5-6400 | Not listed by Intel |
| Xeon 6980P (LGA7529) | 12 | DDR5-6400 or MRDIMM-8800 | Not listed by Intel |

**An EPYC 9005 socket moves 6.9 times the memory traffic of an AM5 chip: 614 GB/s against 89.6 GB/s.** That gap decides CPU inference of large language models and in-memory analytics. Full bandwidth also needs a DIMM in every channel. The trade-offs are in [whether DDR5 is worth paying for](https://lumenfer.com/ddr5-dedicated-server/ "DDR5 on a rented dedicated server").

## Do disks and the network port change the answer?

Yes, for I/O-bound work. A database that waits on storage gains more from NVMe than from a faster core; see [how much faster NVMe is than SATA SSD](https://lumenfer.com/nvme-vs-sata-ssd-dedicated-server/ "NVMe against SATA SSD in dedicated server hosting").

Ports differ more than CPUs do. Every Lumenfer plan has a 1 Gbit/s port; Cherry Servers, Anubiz Host and KoDDoS sell 10 Gbit/s uplinks. If you serve heavy downloads, the port sets your ceiling before the CPU does.

## What are the fastest servers you can rent with crypto today?

The fastest per-core box we found was a 9950X; the most cores on NVMe was a 96-core EPYC 9654. Turin parts were for rent at Cherry Servers, Anubiz Host and KoDDoS, but nobody in the survey listed an EPYC 9965 or 9755.

*Prices checked on October 30, 2026.*

Monthly billing, list prices of 30 October 2026, EUR amounts at 1 EUR = 1.1172 USD (ECB, 30 October 2026). Hetzner's setup fee is spread over 12 months. MonoVM and 1Gbits route some crypto payments through Cryptomus/Heleket, under UK sanctions since 8 October 2026. Hetzner takes bank transfer, card, PayPal and SEPA only.

## Are the cheapest dedicated servers slower?

Often, because many of them run old CPUs. When Lumenfer checked 18 no-KYC crypto hosts on 30 October 2026, 12 of them had a pre-2022 processor in their lowest-priced dedicated server.

Generation matters more than most buyers expect. Phoronix measured the Ryzen 9 9950X at 1.87 times the AM4-era Ryzen 9 5950X, with the same 16 cores (published 14 August 2024).

**A 2026 price list can hide a 2017 processor; read the CPU model before the price.** Lumenfer only rents CPUs launched in 2022 or later.

## Which Lumenfer plan is fastest for my job?

Pick by bottleneck, then by budget. Lumenfer rents nothing above 32 cores, no GPU and no port above 1 Gbit/s; for those, the hosts above are the better match.

| If you need | Plan | CPU | Memory | Price per 30 days |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| The fastest core | Lumen 16 | AMD Ryzen 9 9950X | 128 GB DDR5 | $205.27 |
| A fast core on a budget | Lumen 8 | AMD Ryzen 7 9700X | 64 GB DDR5 | $109.37 |
| Cores and 12 channels | Lumen 32 | AMD EPYC 9354 | 384 GB DDR5 ECC | $749.67 |
| Cores at a lower price | Lumen 24 | AMD EPYC 9254 | 256 GB DDR5 ECC | $356.25 |
| ECC on a small box | Lumen 6 | AMD EPYC 4244P | 32 GB DDR5 ECC | $91.65 |

## Fastest dedicated servers: FAQ

### Is a higher GHz figure always faster?

No. Clock speed only compares chips of the same design. Both the Ryzen 9 9950X and the Core Ultra 9 285K reach 5.7 GHz. Yet Phoronix measured the 9950X 18% faster across about 400 Linux tests in February 2025.

### Is bare metal faster than a VPS with the same cores?

It removes the hypervisor and the neighbours. No hypervisor and no neighbours: all cores, all memory and every NVMe drive of the machine work for you alone. How large the gap is depends on how busy the VPS host is, so measure it on your own workload.

### What is the fastest server for game hosting?

A high-clock AM5 chip, usually. Whether the extra cache of X3D parts helps is covered in [is a Ryzen X3D server better for game hosting](https://lumenfer.com/ryzen-x3d-dedicated-server-game-hosting/ "X3D chips for game-server hosting").

### Does Lumenfer publish benchmarks of its servers?

No. Lumenfer cites AMD, Intel and Phoronix with dates and methods. To test a delivered machine yourself, follow [where to find honest dedicated server benchmarks](https://lumenfer.com/dedicated-server-benchmarks/ "How to benchmark a rented server yourself").

### How fast is delivery?

A few minutes after the payment confirms, and never past the one-hour mark. Each server is prepared by a person. Hosts with ready stock are in the same range: Cherry Servers quotes a 12-minute average for pre-configured machines.
