Intel's 2024–2025 parts are good chips with narrow wins. Here is where Xeon 6 and Core Ultra 200S lead, where AMD does, and what renting each costs at hosts that take crypto.

**Quick answer — Are Intel Xeon 6 and Core Ultra dedicated servers worth renting?**

Intel Xeon 6 and Core Ultra dedicated servers are worth renting for specific jobs. Xeon 6 brings AMX for CPU-based AI and up to 12 memory channels with MRDIMM-8800. Core Ultra brings up to 24 cores on a desktop socket. For general server work, Phoronix measured AMD ahead. **Lumenfer** rents no Intel; its AMD Ryzen 9 9950X costs $205.27, no KYC, crypto.

## What does Intel list for Xeon 6 and Core Ultra 200S?

*Intel product specification pages, read 1 November 2026. The 6731P and 6741P are single-socket parts; the 6980P is for two-socket servers.*

## How does Core Ultra compare with Ryzen 9000 on a server?

It trails overall but wins some multi-threaded jobs. In Phoronix's launch review (24 October 2024, nearly 400 Linux benchmarks), the Core Ultra 9 285K reached 84% of the Ryzen 9 9950X. Its 24 physical cores still beat the 9950X in many code compilation tasks.

A retest on 25 February 2025 (Ubuntu 24.10, Linux 6.13, about 400 benchmarks) put the 9950X 18% ahead. Average CPU power was close, 148 W for the 9950X against 140 W for the 285K. Peaks were not: 312 W for the 285K, against 210 W.

**Core Ultra 200S has no SMT and no AVX-512: 24 cores give 24 threads, and AVX-512 builds fall back to AVX2.** Three server details follow from Intel's own spec sheet:

- **No SMT.** The 265 has 20 cores and 20 threads; a Ryzen 9 9950X has 16 cores and 32 threads.
- **No AVX-512.** Intel lists SSE4.1, SSE4.2 and AVX2 only, so AVX-512 code paths fall back.
- **Mixed cores.** Performance and efficient cores run at different speeds. Pin latency-sensitive processes, such as game servers, to P-cores.

## How does Xeon 6 compare with EPYC 9005?

EPYC 9005 leads on most server code; Xeon 6 keeps two strong niches. On 17 December 2025, Phoronix ran nearly 200 benchmarks on Ubuntu 25.10 and Linux 6.18, at 128 cores per socket on both sides. The EPYC 9755 reached 1.63 times the Xeon 6980P.

The Xeon finished first in CPU-based AI that uses Advanced Matrix Extensions (AMX), and in memory-bound work where its MRDIMM-8800 modules help. Phoronix adds that MRDIMMs cost more and drew about 100 W more in a 12-module test.

**Rent a Xeon 6 when your code calls AMX or needs MRDIMM bandwidth; for anything else, the published numbers favour EPYC.** The AMD side is in [where to rent an EPYC 9004 or 9005 server](https://lumenfer.com/epyc-9005-dedicated-server/ "EPYC Genoa and Turin rentals").

## Where can you rent an Intel Xeon 6 or Core Ultra server?

At three hosts with orderable lines in Lumenfer's survey of 30 October 2026, and only two of them take crypto. Hetzner is the cheapest by far but takes no crypto and can ask for ID.

| Servers.Guru (servers.guru) | Xeon 6731P | 128 GB ECC | 2 × 1.92 TB | DE, FI | Yes, incl. Monero | No | €1,119.00 + €279.00 setup ($1,276.12) |

*Prices checked on October 30, 2026.*

Monthly billing, list prices of 30 October 2026, EUR amounts at 1 EUR = 1.1172 USD (ECB, 30 October 2026). Bracketed prices spread the setup fee over 12 months. Hetzner takes bank transfer, card, PayPal and SEPA only.

Hetzner's EX63 is the cheapest Core Ultra box in the survey. If you can pay by card or bank transfer and pass a possible ID check, it is a strong buy for builds. For crypto without ID, the Core Ultra lines start at $218.75 a month, setup included.

## Is DDR5 standard on servers now, whatever the brand?

On current CPUs, yes: every chip on this page runs DDR5 only, Intel and AMD alike. Older stock is a different story.

Of the 229 comparable plans in Lumenfer's survey of 30 October 2026, 95 named DDR5 in their memory spec. The rest did not name DDR5: some are DDR4 platforms, others simply leave the memory type out. The speed case for the newer memory is in [whether DDR5 is worth paying for](https://lumenfer.com/ddr5-dedicated-server/ "DDR5 on a rented dedicated server").

## What does Lumenfer rent in place of Intel?

AMD parts that cover the same ground. Lumenfer sells only the five plans on [how much a Lumenfer bare-metal server costs](https://lumenfer.com/pricing/ "Lumenfer plans and prices per 30 days"), none of them Intel.

| If you were looking at | Consider | CPU | Memory | Price per 30 days |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Core Ultra 7 265 for builds | Lumen 16 | AMD Ryzen 9 9950X | 128 GB DDR5 | $205.27 |
| Core Ultra on a budget | Lumen 8 | AMD Ryzen 7 9700X | 64 GB DDR5 | $109.37 |
| Xeon 6731P (32 cores, ECC) | Lumen 32 | AMD EPYC 9354 | 384 GB DDR5 ECC | $749.67 |
| A 24-core Xeon-class box | Lumen 24 | AMD EPYC 9254 | 256 GB DDR5 ECC | $356.25 |

None of these replaces AMX. If your inference stack is tuned for Intel's matrix extensions, rent a Xeon 6 from a host above.
