Anubiz Host also lists a 64 GB 9950X in Hong Kong ($316.99, out of stock).
How much does a rented Ryzen 9 9950X cost per month?
A rented 9950X with 128 GB cost $389.90 to $651.99 a month at the five orderable crypto hosts without a routine ID check. HostSailor's $249.00 box is cheaper, with 96 GB and a US location only.
At $205.27 every 30 days, Lumen 16 is priced 25% under its named reference, a 7950X: AbeloHost's “AMD Ryzen 9 7950X (PL)” at €244.99 ($273.70).
In Lumenfer's check of 30 October 2026, comparable current-generation 16-core servers at 8 hosts had a median price of $430.21. Lumen 16 sits 52% under that median.
Every plan and term is on how much a Lumenfer bare-metal server costs.
What does AMD list for the Ryzen 9 9950X?
AMD lists the Ryzen 9 9950X as a 16-core Zen 5 desktop processor for socket AM5, launched on 15 August 2024. The figures below come from AMD's product page, read on 1 November 2026.
| Spec | Ryzen 9 9950X, per AMD |
|---|---|
| Cores / threads | 16 / 32 |
| Base / max boost clock | 4.3 GHz / up to 5.7 GHz |
| L2 / L3 cache | 16 MB / 64 MB |
| Default TDP | 170 W |
| Architecture | Zen 5; TSMC 4 nm cores, 6 nm I/O die |
| Memory | DDR5, 2 channels, up to 256 GB |
| Rated memory speed | DDR5-5600 with 2 DIMMs, DDR5-3600 with 4 DIMMs |
| ECC | "Yes (Requires mobo support)" |
| PCIe | 28 lanes of PCIe 5.0 (24 usable) |
| Vector instructions | AVX2 and AVX-512 listed |
| Launch date | 15 August 2024 |
Two lines matter most on a server. Two channels cap memory bandwidth: at DDR5-5600, 2 × 5,600 MT/s × 8 bytes gives 89.6 GB/s. And AMD rates four DIMMs at DDR5-3600 only, so more capacity can mean slower memory. If bandwidth decides your workload, ask support how the plan's memory is fitted before you order.
Is a desktop Ryzen 9950X good enough for a server?
Yes, for most single-machine work. Whether ECC works depends on the board.
The 9950X is a server CPU in all but its I/O: 16 cores at up to 5.7 GHz, yet only 2 memory channels and 24 usable PCIe lanes.
AMD sells the same design as a server part. The EPYC 4565P matches the 9950X in cores, base and boost clocks, L3 cache and TDP. AMD lists ECC memory for the whole EPYC 4005 series. The model-by-model match is in what EPYC 4004 is, and whether it is just a Ryzen.
For ECC on the same socket, Lumen 6 runs the AMD EPYC 4244P with 32 GB DDR5 ECC.
How fast is the 9950X in independent tests?
Phoronix measured the Ryzen 9 9950X 17.8% faster than the Ryzen 9 7950X, on the geometric mean of nearly 400 Linux benchmarks. That run used Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Linux 6.10, GCC 13.2 and 2 × 16 GB DDR5-6000 (published 14 August 2024).
The same run logged a 137 W average CPU power draw for the 9950X, against 142 W for the 7950X.
Lumenfer publishes no benchmark of its own; measure the delivered machine with the method in where to find honest dedicated server benchmarks. The generational gap is broken down in is a rented 9950X faster than a 7950X.
Which workloads suit a rented 9950X?
Work that needs many fast cores in one box suits it best:
- Builds and CI runners: 32 threads at up to 5.7 GHz clear large compile queues.
- Game servers that lean on one fast thread per instance.
- Databases whose hot data fits in 128 GB DDR5, with NVMe behind it.
- Proxmox with a handful of virtual machines.
It suits memory-bound jobs less, such as CPU inference of large language models, or anything past AMD's 256 GB limit for the chip. Those fit EPYC: Lumen 24 runs the AMD EPYC 9254 and Lumen 32 the AMD EPYC 9354, both with 12 memory channels per AMD.
What does Lumen 16 leave out?
It leaves out remote console access, backups, Windows and DDoS filtering. DDoS protection is limited to whatever the datacenter network applies by default; nothing further is promised.
The port runs at 1 Gbit/s; Cherry Servers and Anubiz Host attach 10 Gbit/s uplinks to their 9950X boxes. Cherry also quotes a 12-minute average deployment for pre-configured servers, while Lumenfer prepares each machine by hand. Payment is BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC: no Monero and no Lightning.
Renting a Ryzen 9 9950X: FAQ
Does Lumen 16 have ECC memory?
No. Lumen 16 lists 128 GB DDR5 without ECC, and AMD supports ECC on the 9950X only where the motherboard does. For ECC, choose Lumen 6, Lumen 24 or Lumen 32, whose memory is listed as DDR5 ECC.
How long until a rented 9950X is ready?
Up to 72 hours from the moment your payment is confirmed. A person prepares the machine and installs the system you picked; the dashboard then shows its IP address. Hosts with ready stock can be quicker: Cherry Servers quotes a 12-minute average for its pre-configured servers.
Can I rent a Ryzen 9 9950X3D instead?
Not from Lumenfer. In the 30 October survey, the only 9950X3D listed sat at HOSTKEY in Russia, which asks for ID at signup. The trade-offs are covered in is a Ryzen X3D server better for game hosting.
Can I pay for 6 or 12 months in advance?
Yes. Choose 30 days, 3 months (91 days, 10% off), 6 months (182 days, 20% off) or 12 months (365 days, 30% off): a longer term is the 30-day price multiplied by 3, 6 or 12, minus its discount, rounded down to the cent (Lumen 16: $554.22 for 3 months, $985.29 for 6, $1724.26 for 12). Renewals repeat your term at the price you ordered at, unless you set another term for the next renewal in the dashboard.
Which coins can I pay with?
BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, from a balance topped up with at least $25. Lumenfer takes no Monero and no Lightning. No KYC: we never ask for an ID, a selfie, documents, a card or a phone number.
Where are Lumenfer's servers located?
Amsterdam (Netherlands), Reykjavik (Iceland), Zurich (Switzerland) and Bucharest (Romania): all five plans in all four cities, one price everywhere. City by city details are in where to rent a Ryzen server in Europe.
